OGILVIE BIBLE

Hi Kathib,
Thanks for your message. I found two people who esch had a proper claim to the Bible. One was a descendant of the donor of the bible, the other a descendant of the couple who received it as a wedding gift. Both were active family historians. After some anguish I gave it to the direct descendant and the other person generously accepted my decision. If you would email me on gogilvie@xtra.co.nz I would introduce you to them by a common email.
Regards,

Family Bible OGILVIE, CANNING, GARDNER

Hi,
I have become the holder of a wondrous family bible containing BDM info from the 1850s with the surnames of OGILVIE, CANNING, GARDNER. Initially they were from Scotland but then from Nelson, NZ.
This will be a precious acquisition for someone and I would very much like to see it go to a "good home".
Regards,
gogilvie

Looking for STOOP and FINELETTER migration to Otago gold fields in early 1860s

Hi,
James STOOP and Hannah FINELETTER came to the Otago goldfields from the Victorian goldfields in the early 1860s. I suspect they came together and may even have come as Mr and Mrs Stoop. Hannah would have had one child, Sarah Ann, born 1858, with her and possibly another, William Thomas, born1854.
Iwould be grateful for any help on their arrival or time in Otago before they moved on to the Westlanf field in the late 1860s.

looking for 1840s Wollongong school records

Hi,
I am researching my great grandfather, Philip BOYD, who was born in Wollongong on 11 November 1842 and was baptized in St Xavier?s Catholic Church on 23 November 1842.
He came over to New Zealand as a young man in 1861.
There is evidence that he was quite well educated, presumably in a Wollongong Catholic School, in the late 1840s/early 1850s.
I would greatly appreciate any help in finding any records of his school days.

Looking for William Boyd, Married in Wollongong, 1842

Hi,
The only documentation I have on my great great grandfather, William Boyd, is that he married Ellen English in St Xavier's Roman Catholic church in Wollongong in January 1842 and was the father of the child they had in November 1842. There is a family story that he was a master mariner.
I find him very hard to research because of the commonality of the name.
I would be grateful for any suggestions on how I can find out more about him.

Looking for Fineletter immigration to New Zealand in 1860s

Hi,
I have information on Hannah Eliza Fineletter, nee Howard having five children born to her and John James Fineletter in Ballarat, Victoria in the 1850s. Three of the five died young. Hannah Eliza Fineletter, Her daughter Sarah Ann Fineletter and perhaps her son, William Thomas Fineletter, emigrated to New Zealand in the late sixties. Hannah Eliza and Sarah Ann were in Hokitika round 1870.
I would appreciate any information on their emigration to New Zealand, and their early years here.

Hi,

My great grandfather Stuart Fane Ogilvie was born in Killybegs, County Donegal, Ireland in the mid 1830s.

He was in Beechworth, Victoria in the early 1850s, and in Hokitika, New Zealand in the 1860s.

I can find no record of his immigration either to Australia or later into New Zealand.

Can anyone please help?
